Porchia Thompson is New York licensed and a textured hair specialist, as well as the visionary behind Scissher. Her journey in the world of curls truly took shape during her 10 transformative years at Devachan, where she mastered precision dry cutting, advanced curl care techniques, and the artistry of the Deva Cut method. Those years shaped her approach to curl culture, education, and client empowerment. When Devachan closed, Porchia opened Scissher in the summer of 2022 to create a space entirely dedicated to curl culture and confidence, a salon where every coil, wave, and curl is celebrated. Her work has graced New York Fashion Week runways, collaborations with Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, and mentorship with organizations like Covenant House. Whether behind the chair, backstage, or teaching, Porchia’s mission remains the same: elevate curls, honor identity, and help every client fall in love with their natural texture.
