I believe curls should be celebrated, not just managed. My journey with curly hair began with a personal transformation—after years of relaxers, I made the bold decision to cut it all off and embrace my natural texture. That choice not only changed the way I saw my own beauty but set me on a path to helping others rediscover the power of their curls.
I graduated from Empire Beauty School in 2006 and became a licensed cosmetologist, working in several salons before joining Devachan Salon in 2014. At Devachan, I spent two and a half years in intensive training before becoming a stylist, mastering precision dry cutting and the signature Deva Cut method. But the biggest lesson I took from my time there wasn’t just about technique—it was about empowering clients. I learned that the key to truly embracing curls is confidence, and my mission has always been to help my clients become less dependent on their stylist by giving them the knowledge and tools to care for their hair effortlessly.
When Devachan closed its doors in 2022, I took a leap of faith and opened Scissher, a salon dedicated entirely to curls. While Devachan’s closure marked the end of an era, it also deepened my appreciation for my clients and the industry as a whole. Scissher isn’t just about giving great cuts—it’s about creating a space where every curl pattern is understood, celebrated, and cared for with intention.
Beyond the salon, my work has been featured on the runways of New York Fashion Week, in collaborations with brands like Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, and through mentorship programs at Covenant House. But nothing compares to the feeling of watching a client see their curls in a new light—when they go from frustration to confidence, from uncertainty to empowerment.
At Scissher, you’ll get more than a haircut—you’ll get a customized experience tailored to your unique curl pattern, lifestyle, and hair goals. My goal is for every client to leave not only loving their hair but also knowing how to work with it, style it, and embrace it daily.
